Burglary Arrests

 The Birmingham Police Department reports that two suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with a burglary investigation.  
 On Monday, July 30, 2012, South Precinct officers located two suspects that were the focus of a burglary investigation. The initial investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in a burglary of a residence located at Abby at the Bluff apartments. Officers were able to detain both suspects and upon further investigation, the suspects were positively determined to be involved in the burglary. One suspect was also determined to have burglarized the same location on July 24, 2012.

The first suspect has been identified as:
Antonio Starks, B/M, 18, of Birmingham, Alabama. Two Burglary warrants with a $15,000 bond on each have been obtained against the suspect. The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.

The second suspect is a juvenile.
B/M, 13, of Birmingham, Alabama. A Burglary petition has been obtained against the suspect. The suspect is in the custody of Jefferson County Family Court.



BPD Officer Indictment   
 

 The Birmingham Police Department reports that the FBI has conducted an investigation that has resulted in an indictment of an employee of the Birmingham Police Department.  After learning of the initial investigation, the officer was assigned to administrative duties. Additional action is pending internal review.
 Chief A.C. Roper states, “We were notified at the onset of their investigation and we fully supported their efforts in conducting their investigation. One thing is for sure, this indictment does not reflect upon the hundreds of officers working hard every day to make Birmingham a safer city.”

The employee has been identified as:
Corey Hooper, B/M, 34.
