 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced the final Player of the Week selections for the 2012 season on Monday. Southern University quarterback Dray Joseph, joined defensive back Kevin Eugene and wide receiver Julian Stafford of Mississippi Valley State, and running back Isaiah Crowell of Alabama State as the honorees to wrap up the 2012 regular season.
 Joseph received the Offensive Player of the Week award for the second time this season, while Crowell was selected Newcomer of the Week for the third time this season. Stafford received his first Specialist of the Week and second weekly honor overall, after claiming Offensive Player of the Week honors earlier this season. Eugene is a first-timer, capturing Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Dray Joseph

Joseph tied a school record for TD passes in the Bayou Classic throwing five TDs as SU escaped the 39th Bayou Classic with a 38-33 win. Joseph passed for 284 yards on 22-of-37 passing with no INTs.

Defensive Players of the Week
Kevin Eugene
Mississippi Valley State
JR • DB • 5-11 • 175 •  Miami, Florida
Eugene scored two defensive touchdowns Saturday in a 34-3 win over Texas Southern after returning a fumble 100 yards for a score and an interception 31 yards for a TD. Eugene also had five tackles and two interceptions, tying him for first in the SWAC with four for the season.

Newcomer of the Week
Isaiah Crowell
Alabama State
SO • RB • 5-11 • 190 • Columbus, Georgia
Crowell rushed 18 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns. He had touchdown runs of three yards (1st quarter) and one yard (4th quarter) in the season finale against Tuskegee. It was his fourth 100-yard rushing game of the season.

Specialist of the Week
Julian Stafford
Mississippi Valley State
R-SO • WR • 5-10 • 185 • Memphis, Tennessee
Stafford returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. He now has two kick returns for a score this season and is averaging 29.5 yards per return. He also had five receptions for 160 yards.
