Funds will allow schools to purchase technology, facility equipment and classroom suppliesBATON ROUGE, La. – Community Coffee Company is awarding 917 checks to schools participating in its Community Cash for Schools® fundraising program. Each year, schools across the Southeast exchange Community Brand product UPC labels for cash. Participating schools in eight states – Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas – collected more than 3.4 million labels in 2011. Over the program’s 23-year history, participating schools have earned more than $4.9 million to purchase new textbooks, computers, playground equipment and even a natural bird sanctuary for a science class. Students, parents and teachers, as well as local restaurants, offices, churches and other businesses partner to collect labels that are redeemed for cash by the schools. Also, schools can collect points, which are redeemed for cash, through the use of loyalty cards at CC’s Community Coffee House® locations in South Louisiana. “Our Community Cash for Schools program provides Community coffee lovers with an easy and convenient way to provide added support to their local schools,” said Matt Saurage, Community Coffee Company president. “As a 93-year-old, family-owned southern company, we’re proud to help local students obtain added resources to receive the education they deserve.” Schools can register for the program each year by signing up on Community Coffee Company’s website at www.CommunityCoffee.com/CashforSchools. |
