Friday, April 13 proved a lucky evening for the Donor Opening & Champagne Reception for the Alabama School of Fine Arts’ Dorothy Jemison Day Theater. Opera Birmingham hosted the event starring the magnificent soprano Angela Brown. Also on the program were ASFA music students JiNa Kim, Forrest Moody and Carmen Johnson.

Upon entering the theater lobby, guests were greeted by ASFA staff and mingled with opera patrons before they were shown to their seats. Stan Ingram, Chairman of the ASFA Foundation Board
welcomed the enthusiastic crowd. A buffet table was stationed in the lobby, decorated in the rich plum accents of the facility. A breath taking purple and pale yellow floral arrangement by Michael Dyer of Uncut Flowers, in a large silver vessel, was the focal point of the table offering champagne, donated by International Wines, Inc. as well as sparkling cider. Refreshments, including an enormous array of cupcakes, were offered after the 5 star performance.

The Dorothy Jemison Day Theater is located on the school campus at 800 19th Street North in
downtown Birmingham’s cultural district. It was built for teaching as well as community use. For
