TUSCALOOSA Ala.WIAT) — Unofficial results have been posted in a Tuscaloosa special election for City Council District 7. Polls close at 7:59 p.m.
The election will be a rematch between Cassius Lenier and Sonya MacKinstry. In April, a judge overturned a March election between the two. Lanier won 28 votes.
The turnout was low, with only 15% of registered voters casting ballots in the city.

These results are final, but not certified. The Tuscaloosa City Council plans to certify election results Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
- Cassius Lanier – 872 votes (64%)
- Sonyea McKinstry – 482 votes (36%)
